NA approves resolution condemning attacks on polio workers
ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly (NA) on Wednesday approved a resolution condemning the attacks on polio workers. The resolution which was tabled by MQM MNA Iqbal Qadir called for those behind the attacks to be arrested and security be provided to polio field workers.

Earlier during the assembly session, PPP MNA Noor Alam Khan criticised Minister of Interior Rehman Malik claiming he had informed Malik about such attacks one year ago.

Khan said Malik did not pay any attention to this warning and was only concerned with his personal security. “If people such as Malik are in parliament, people will also lose faith in us.”

Attacks against polio workers continued in Pakistan on Wednesday as a supervisor of the campaign and her driver were killed in one of three attacks which took place in Charsadda. A polio worker was also injured in an attack in Peshawar, while female workers of the campaign escaped unhurt during an attack in Nowshera.

The continuing attacks have led to UNICEF and the World Health Organisation directing polio field workers to stop their work in Pakistan. Meanwhile the Sindh government which suspended the polio drive in Karachi after four female workers were killed on Tuesday has also suspended the campaign throughout the province.
