Baby Reindeer star Jessica Gunning wants people to stop looking for the real-life Martha whose character she played on the show.

The Netflix miniseries is creating waves across the Internet which is based on the true events of Richard Gadd’s life. It tells the story of the Scottish comedian’s trauma when he got stalked by a lonely, deranged woman.

As Richard bravely reenacts his real-life experiences with stalking and abuse, viewers are now attempting to find out the real identities of the people in the drama, including Martha.

However, in a new interview with Glamour, Jessica suggested that netizens should stop their hunt immediately.

“I didn’t know that was happening. I would urge people not to be doing that. I think if that is happening, I think it’s a real, real shame, because it shows that they haven’t watched the show properly,” she said.

Jessica added, “That’s not the point of it in any way. Netflix and Richard [Gadd] went to extreme lengths to try and make sure that the identities were kept private for a reason.”

Moreover, she also suggested that people should watch the drama again in case they missed the lesson Richard was trying to deliver.

“I think they should try and watch the show again, and really see what the point of it was – it definitely wasn’t that. I deliberately didn’t want to do an impersonation of somebody; I wanted to do an interpretation of this character,” she added.
