Jerry Seinfeld reveals almost tapping Daniel Day-Lewis for ‘Unfrosted’

Jerry Seinfeld reflected on almost calling Daniel Day-Lewis to play a ruthless character in his upcoming film Unfrosted.

The film, which is loosely based on the true story of Pop Tart's creation, will be released on May 3 on Netflix.

To promote the anticipated film, the American actor appeared at Jimmy Kimmel Live where the host asked if the speculation surrounding Day-Lewis was true, to which he confirmed that he “was going to ask Daniel Day-Lewis".

“I wanted him to play - we have a sugar drug lord who controls all of the world's sugar, his name is El Sucre”, he revealed.

He explained the character which required a portrayal akin to Day-Lewis' role of Daniel Plainview from There Will Be Blood

However, Jerry admitted that he never reached out to the three-time Academy Award winner for the role as the actor had announced his retirement in 2017.

“I wanted him to do that but I never called him. I should have called him”, he added.

The 70-year-old also joked that if there’s anything that would’ve brought Lewis out of retirement is “a Pop-Tart movie”.

“It would have been great, I wonder if he’s disappointed”, the host remarked to which the father of three replied, “I hope so”, eliciting an uproar of laughter from the audience.

The said role is eventually played by Felix Solis, known as Omar Navarro from Ozark.
