KARACHI: Geo Films is set to release its new horror-family drama Deemak this Eid ul Adha, promising a thrilling yet emotionally grounded cinematic experience.

The film, which blends horror with domestic drama and familial relationships, has already stirred excitement with its recently released trailer on social media.

The trailer has drawn praise from both audiences and critics, who have described Deemak as a positive step for Pakistani cinema. Following its release, the film’s cast made a public appearance at a local cinema, where they were enthusiastically received by fans, many of whom took selfies with the stars.

Lead actor Faysal Quraishi revealed that the story revolves around a middle-class household where a young couple begins to experience strange and supernatural events.

“This film will appeal especially to those who enjoy horror along with layered family storytelling,” he said.

Co-star Sonya Hussyn added that while the narrative contains horror, it also reflects complex social dynamics.

Veteran actress Samina Peerzada noted that the film portrays how unknown fears can strain familial bonds, particularly the delicate relationship between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. She said the story uses horror as a lens to depict real domestic tensions.

Directed by emerging filmmaker Rafi Rashdi and penned by renowned writer Ayesha Muzaffar, Deemak boasts a cast that includes Javed Sheikh, Bushra Ansari, Saman Ansari, Anaya Abbas, and Areez Abbas.

The executive producer is Syed Murad Ali, and the film is presented under the Mandviwalla Entertainment banner.

The production also features global talent, with cinematography by acclaimed cameraman Rana Kamran. The visual effects have been crafted by Julia Milas and Imagine Magic Studios, while the film’s atmospheric sound design and background score are by Sohaib Rashdi.

With a compelling blend of fear and family, Deemak is being hailed as a fresh chapter for Pakistani cinema.
