ECP upholds ban on appointments, diversion of development funds

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has upheld the ban on appointments in government institutions. The ban will not be applicable on constitutional institutions such as the Supreme and High courts.

Appointments can also take place on vacancies advertised before 31 August, 2012.

Issuing its order on Friday, the ECP also upheld its decision to ban the diversion of funds allocated for development projects.

The government had filed a plea for lifting the ban that Election Commission had imposed on recruitment in all public departments and diversion of development funds.
