Prince Harry reportedly lost his chance to reconcile with father King Charles, brother Prince William and the rest of the royal family members with his bold move.
The Duke of Sussex candidly spoke of the issues regarding his security concerns in the UK after losing a legal challenge over the levels of security he and his family are entitled to while in the UK.
"Ultimately, this whole thing could be resolved through him,” Harry said of King Charles while speaking with BBC. “I thought with all the disagreements, the one thing I could rely on was my family keeping me safe.”
He added, "And not only did they decide to remove my security in the U.K., but they also signaled to every single government around the world not to protect us.”
"I can forgive my family's involvement, my father, my brother, my stepmother … for so many things that have happened. I have moved past that," he added.
However, the Duke of Sussex said he is “struggling to forgive” that a “decision that was made in 2020 is knowingly putting me and my family in harm's way.”
He did not stop there but went on to claim that following his departure from the royal family, the Firm tried to use security as "leverage" to keep him, his wife Meghan Markle and their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, tied to the monarchy.
"But once they realized that wasn't going to work, that [we] are happier outside of the institution, please just look at the facts," said Harry.
"If anything was to happen to me, my wife or my father's grandchildren, look where the responsibility lies."
Following the interview, royal expert Jennie Bond said that the Duke’s “latest interview has made things a whole lot worse.”
"It's incredibly sad, but at the moment, I don't see any prospect of Harry mending bridges with either his father or his brother,” she added, per OK! Magazine.
