Opposition, Govt fail to evolve consensus on new NAB boss
ISLAMABAD: As the Supreme Court on Thursday set September 13 as deadline for the appointment of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman, the opposition and the government failed in evolving consensus on a name for the coveted slot.

Opposition leader in the National Assembly and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) stalwart Syed Khurshid Shah, who called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today to discuss the names, said that the PPP had reservations over the name of Rehman Hussain Jafri suggested by the PML-N, while the ruling party was opposing the naming of Sardar Raza Khan proposed by his party.

He hinted that some more names might come forth after dropping the aforesaid nominees.

Shah said that the opposition and government would suggest three names each for the post of Chief Election Commissioner within a few days. He said that the PPP would propose the name of Justice (retd) Rana Bhagwandas.
