Princess Kate and William are facing controversy once again.

The Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club, a long-established fixture in Britain’s elite sporting scene, is facing mounting criticism after years of large-scale land works that locals say have transformed the landscape and not for the better.

Since 2013, the site has taken in an eye-watering volume of waste soil, reportedly equivalent to around 100,000 lorry loads.

Residents say the changes have dramatically altered the once-green surroundings, raising fears over flooding, drainage issues, and potential contamination.

One local described the situation as a growing hazard, claiming the land now sits significantly higher than permitted levels, putting nearby homes at risk.

Using advanced lidar technology, the Lead Local Flood Authority identified clear signs that the alterations could increase flood risk both on-site and in surrounding areas.

Local MP Joshua Reynolds has also weighed in, warning that the scale of soil deposits and rising land levels could pose a serious threat to community safety.

He remains unconvinced that proposed fixes will tackle the core issue, suggesting they may fall short of resolving the underlying problem.

It points to complications including a high-pressure gas main running through the land and the collapse of a contractor, both of which have stalled progress on the original development plans.
