Mets slugger Juan Soto has to leave Friday night’s game against the San Francisco Giants due to a right calf tightness injury.
Juan Soto is set to undergo an MRI test today, Saturday, April 4, 2026.
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza updating on the injury, said, “The calf area could be tricky. We’ve just got to wait, but there’s obviously concern.”
He added, “He felt something. As he was standing at third base, he continued to get tight.”
The New York Mets beat the Giants by 10-3.
Soto reached base safely with a single off Tyler Mahle in the top of the first and seemed to slow down while going first to third on Bo Bichette’s RBI single.
Soto was retired on a force play at the plate when Brett Baty grounded into a 1-2-3 double play.
After getting hurt with right calf stiffness, he was replaced by Tyrone Taylor in left field to start the bottom of the first inning.
Soto, 27, is in his second season contract with the New York Mets, worth a whopping $765 million for 15 years.
He had 43 homers and 105 RBIs while playing in 160 games last season.
Before this season, the four-time All-Star and six-time Silver Slugger had played at least 150 games in six of his eight MLB seasons.
Soto has not been on the injured list with a leg injury as a major leaguer.
