Princess Eugenie has been keeping a low profile the scrutiny for her parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, continues and the firm strongly advises to practice caution in these turbulent times.
The younger York sister is not only a beloved niece of King Charles, but she also held a close bond with her late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. This was evident in the way how Eugenie always referred to the late monarch as ‘Granny’ even in formal settings.
On Tuesday, the royal family gathered together to mark the centenary celebrations of Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace, and Princess Beatrice and Eugenie were notably absent along with Prince Harry.
Even though the Palace had briefed stating that the York sisters could be expected to attend future royal events, Eugenie’s absence from the event was significant.
Moreover, the 36-year-old strictly maintained her social media silence on the important occasion, an uncharacteristic move from the Charles’s niece.
It is believed that Eugenie is respectful by making social media update as it could take away attention from the main event.
According to royal biographer Robert Jobson, the King and William both know “the difference between disciplining a disgraced man and stripping identity from two women who have shown loyalty in the hardest years”.
Even though the debate over their royal status continues to be a debate behind Palace but William is “not interested in reopening old wounds” and is focusing is moving forward and “forward includes the York sisters”.
