King Charles, who ascended to the throne in 2022, has taken a different approach to his mother’s rule, bringing in some major changes.

It is speculated that Prince William will be bringing in even more changes as he plans on taking a “ruthless” approach towards any unnecessary drama or anything that threatens the monarchy.

As Prince George nears his 13th year, which is when his protocols as the future monarch will be officially be implemented, the Palace is already preparing the Prince and Princess of Wales to take the throne.

Even though, Charles moved towards a ‘slimmed-down monarchy’, the coronation ceremony held all the elements of the traditional royal pomp and circumstances, which the exception of few protocols given his health and safety.

The royals are known for their grandeur; hence, it came as no surprise that no corners were cut during the preparations. The Palace shared some surprising detail about the coronation.

“This spectacular gold crown was made especially for Charles II’s coronation, which took place on this day in 1661,” the Royal Collection Trust, a sub-section of the Buckingham Palace wrote. “It was a replacement for the medieval crown melted down in 1649 after the execution of Charles I.”

It continued, “The original was thought to date back to the 11th-century royal saint, Edward the Confessor – the last Anglo-Saxon king of England. The newer crown is decorated with rubies, amethysts and sapphires, and weighs around 2.2kg (5 lb). It was last used for the coronation of King Charles III in 2023.”

This update comes as the royal family celebrated the birthday of the youngest Wales child, Prince Louis. He turned eight as wishes poured in including from King Charles.
