The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's decision suggests they wanted Archie and Lilibet to understand the legacy and heritage of the country where their grandfather reigns as King.

The family are understood to have stayed on Tanera Mor, a secluded private island in the Summer Isles, reportedly owned by billionaire hedge fund co-founder Ian Wace.

Despite having once described Balmoral as "simply paradise," the Duke has yet to bring his two children to the private royal estate in Aberdeenshire.

The California-based couple refused to let their much-hyped trip be overshadowed by Harry’s security battle and family grievances. Instead, they visited another Scottish destination during the trip, creating new memories together.

The visit, which was kept under wraps, took place during a broader trip to the UK that included several significant family engagements.

Wace, the co-founder of Marshall Wace, has reportedly maintained a friendship with both Harry and William over many years. His former wife, the ex-model Saffron Aldridge, 57, developed a close rapport with Meghan.

The two couples attended a Cirque du Soleil show together at the Royal Albert Hall in 2019, the year following the Sussexes' wedding.
