Judge Judy retires from on-camera TV after three decades as son takes over courtroom role

Judy Sheindlin, better known as 'Judge Judy' announced her retirement from her three-decade run on camera with her current buzzing series, Judy Justice.

The current series Judy Justice is concluding in October this year, as the 83-year-old TV personality is ending her long run on television.

“I have a lot of other things of interest,” Sheindlin said while revealing the announcement in an interview with People.

“I don’t want to do hair and makeup anymore, but I still want my message to get out there,” she added.

Though Sheindlin won’t be saying goodbye to the television completely, as she is also producing a new show Adam’s Law, on the same format as Judy Justice, starring her son, attorney Adam Levy.

The upcoming series is scheduled to premiere on September 14, 2026, which marks almost three decades after Judge Judy first debuted.

Sheindlin has full confidence in her son’s ability, saying, “There aren’t a lot of people who can carry a half hour on their own unscripted. He (Levy) has what it takes.”

Sheindlin first appeared on screen after Judge Judy first hit the airwaves in 1996.

The show had been produced for 25 seasons before it was shelved in 2021, after which Sheindlin moved to streaming with Judy Justice.
