Miley Cyrus hints at more live shows after two sold out concerts

Miley Cyrus may have just tested the waters with two sold-out shows before making a bigger move.

The Flowers hitmaker hinted that her upcoming two-night Hollywood Bowl engagement could be more than a pair of special performances, describing the October concerts as the “ultimate dress rehearsal” for a possible residency.

During her Apple Music interview with Zane Lowe, the Hannah Montana famed actress and singer reacted to the extraordinary demand for tickets to her two Los Angeles shows.

Around 1.5 million fans reportedly entered the queue for the limited engagement, which will accommodate only around 35,000 seats across the two nights.

Lowe pointed out just how significant that demand was, suggesting Cyrus, 33, could need around 80 shows at the Bowl to perform for everyone who wanted to see her.

“That’s kind of what my idea was,” she said. The former Nickelodeon star explained that the huge ticket demand had effectively tested an idea she had already been considering.

“I’ve learned now through the queue that my calculations are correct and people will come to me,” she said. “I don’t need to drive to you.”

That could mean a very different future for live performances.

Rather than committing to a traditional tour involving constant travel from one city to another, a residency-style setup would allow the Wrecking Ball songstress to perform repeatedly in one location while maintaining more control over her schedule and routine.

She likes the idea for another very personal reason. “So this is perfect because people like to see me perform and I like to sleep in my marshmallow bed so we can both be happy,” she joked.

Cyrus has previously spoken about the physical and emotional demands associated with touring, including the pressure placed on her voice and the challenges of maintaining a demanding performance schedule.

A residency could potentially give her the opportunity to perform for large audiences without the constant travel of a conventional world tour.

The comments come as Cyrus prepares to release her new album, Bass Persuades, on September 18.
