GTA 6 has a $400 Collector's Edition without the game: So what are you paying for?

Rockstar Games has finally revealed a massive collector's box for GTA 6, and at $399, you might reasonably expect the actual game to be somewhere inside but there isn’t.

The Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection is basically an enormous box of memorabilia for people who really, really like Vice City.

And Rockstar has put some unusual things in there.Buyers get a Macca the Gator figure, Oakley Frogskins sunglasses, a Leonida Keys crossbody bag and a New Era snapback.

There's also a Chunkee the Manatee shot glass, a Vice City swizzle spoon and a razor-blade-shaped keychain.

You also get an enamel pin set, stickers, a magnetic mirror and a double-sided souvenir poster featuring a map of Leonida.

All of that comes to $399 in the US and £349 in the UK.

A copy of GTA 6 costs extra.

Rockstar isn't actually calling the box a game edition. It is being sold as a standalone “premium collectible set,” so technically there's no suggestion on the product that buyers will receive the game.

Still, the timing makes the price difficult to ignore.

GTA 6 launches November 19, the same day the collector's box is due to arrive. The Standard Edition costs $79.99, meaning someone wanting both will be spending nearly $480 before tax.

And even buying the game's $99.99 Ultimate Edition alongside it would still leave you just shy of $500.

Rockstar has done this before. Its Red Dead Redemption 2 Collector's Box also arrived without the game.

But $400 takes things to another level. For that money, GTA 6 fans get sunglasses, a hat, a bag, a gator, a shot glass and, yes, a spoon.
