LONDON: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that China will invest 25 billion dollars in Pakistan’s energy sector which will help Islamabad overcome power crises.
Talking to media said concerted efforts were needed to tackle the issues being confronted by the country.
He said that his government was gradually overcoming the shortage of electricity and the situation will soon start improving.
The prime minister said that collective wisdom of Pakistan’s political leadership was required for the development of the country.
He said that he had not given any time frame to resolve the energy crisis during his election campaign. Sharif said that many projects including Guddu and Uch were initiated as part of efforts to overcome the shortage of electricity.
Earlier, speaking to a delegation of British bank, Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan is a progressive country and its current economic policies are yielding positive results.
During the meeting, the leader of the delegation assured the Prime Minister of making more investment in Pakistan and further enhancing the network of the bank there by increasing the number of its branches.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that if Pakistan’s economy remained on the current path of progress, it will soon be able to achieve a growth rate target of 6 percent.
He said the situation of loan availability to the private sector of Pakistan has also witnessed good improvement.
