US: Pakistani organizations mourn Peshawar carnage
DALLAS: More than 34 Pakistani organizations gathered at candle light vigil in honor of martyrs of Peshawar carnage. The event was organized by the South Asia Democracy Watch at Kennedy Memorial Plaza in downtown Dallas.

Pakistan Tahreek e Insaf, Pakistan Peoples Party, All Pakistan Muslim League, Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Pakistan Awami Tahreek all were on same page against violence

All major political parties , social, cultural and community organizations of Pakistan along with three Sikh Gordwaras and India Association of North Texas participated in the event.

The expressed resolve to fight extremism, violence and lawlessness. The gathering demanded control on law and order situation in Pakistan.


The South Asia Democracy Watch called for a rally and a vigil to express homage to the martyred students, who were killed by Taliban in their attack on Peshawar Army Public School.

Other community and political groups in the event including Alnoor International, Al- Noor International, American Muslim Democratic Caucus, American Together, Anjuman Sarkar e Wafa, Asian Writers Forum, Council of American Islamic Relations- DFW, Dallas Peace Center, Foundation for Pluralism, Fun Asia Radio, ILM Center- Plano, India Association of North Texas, Muslim Community Center for Human Services, Muslim Democratic Caucus of Texas, Pakistan American Association of Texas, Pakistan Awami Tahreek- DFW, Pakistan Christian Cultural Association, Pakistan Community Services, Pakistan Council of Dallas Fort Worth, Pakistan Society of North Texas, Pakistan Student Association- UT Arlington, Pakistan Student Association -UT Dallas, Pakistani American Lawyers Association, Qaraqaram Thinkers Forum, Radio Azad, Radio HotPepper, Sindhi Association of North America- DFW, South Asia Democracy Watch, Texas Ahmadia Association, World Women Global Council. Besides Pakistani groups three Sikh Gordwaras, of Garland, Irving and Euless, India Association of North Texas, and Dallas Peace Center equally participated in the event.

Highly charged and emotional crowd demanded of the government to bring all the terrorists to book.

South Asia Democracy Watch President Amir Makhani, secretory Syed Fayyaz Hassan while talking to Geo/ Jang correspondent said that today’s gathering where people from all walks of life are in participation in a unified stand, we ask an end to all kind of violence and stand by the people of Peshawar and Pakistan in its time of mourning.


This was a rare occasion where several competing Pakistani political, social, and community organizations participated.
