Seven additional SHC judges take oath
KARACHI: Seven additional judges of the Sindh High Court (SHC) took oath here today, Geo News reported Wednesday.

SHC Chief Justice Mushir Alam administered oath to the judges.

The judges who took oath today include Justice Syed Muhammad Farooq Shah, Justice Farooq Ali Channa, Justice Habib-ur-Rahman Shaikh, Justice Aziz-ur-Rahman, Justice Aftab Ahmed, Justice Salahuddin Panhwar and Justice Riazat Ali Sahar.

A total of 24 judges are now part of SHC, however, 16 more seats are still vacant.

While speaking to media after the ceremony, SHC CJ Mushir Alam said that increase in the number of judges will help in monitoring the peace situation more effectively throughout the country.

He also added that the government has assured of setting a time frame for the transfers and appointments in the police department, following court’s orders. He said that police is facing difficulties in discharging their duties impartially.

The slums provide safe havens to criminals and due to lack of development programs, it gets difficult for police to enter in such areas and conduct operations, the CJ said.
