ISLAMABAD: The one-man Suddle Commission tasked to probe the Arsalan Iftikhar case has given December 1 deadline to the witness Ahmed Khalil to submit his statement to the commission, Geo News reported Wednesday.
While talking to the media here today, Dr Abdul Basit who is representing Ahmed Khalil, told the reporters that the commission has granted his client more time on his request.
The Suddle Commission had sought a written statement from Ahmed Khalil, who is believed to be a close friend of business tycoon Malik Riaz and a key witness in the case.
The commission had also provided him with the option of submitting the statement either through mail or by appearing personally before the commission.
The sources also told that an interrogation session was also scheduled today for Malik Riaz and Arsalan Iftikhar, however, the former did not appear before the commission.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Tuesday submitted the tax record of real estate tycoon Malik Riaz and Dr Arsalan Iftikhar to the commission following the orders of the commission.
The FBR had requested the commission to grant it 12-day time for the submission of the record. Meanwhile, Dr Arsalan submitted his statement to the registrar of the commission although he was not asked to do that.
Arsalan, in his statement, termed all the accusations leveled by Malik Riaz as baseless. He said he will appear before the commission when he is summoned. Arsalan also submitted his telephone contact and postal address to the commission.
On the other hand, Malik Riaz said he does not have confidence in the Suddle Commission, however, he appeared before it on Monday to respond to the issue of contempt notice. He said Suddle Commission is unconstitutional and he does not accept it.
