BADIN: Internally displaced persons (IDPS) of Lyari currently living in a deserted place here are facing immense hardships, as most of them are passing nights in the open uncared and unattended by the authorities, while the plight of the women and children without food, water, medicines and medical aid giving rise to a horrible humanitarian scene.
Mostly women and children, these IDPs have been forced by violence and gang warfare in Lyari to take shelter elsewhere, leaving behind their homes and properties.
The traumatic Lyari IDPs driven to take refuge in the graveyard of Dargah Shah Gahiro hoped that this could provide a safety to their lives, but hardly after a passage of few days, they found themselves forlorn and forgotten as no government official or NGOs visited them, while their unnourished children suffered from numerous diseases with no doctor or medicine anywhere.
Some IDP families, mostly Kutchhis from Agra Taj Colony and Kalri said it was a matter of shame that the rulers had given a free hand to gangsters and showering bullets on innocent Kutchhis, others and have forced them to live in such a miserable plight.
On the other hand Deputy Commissioner, Rafique Quraishi claimed that the IDPs have been provided water and other basic facilities and if they ask for the food, it will also be arranged, while the IDPs refuting the claim said that from Lyari to Badin there was none to take care of them. They demanded from higher officials/philanthropists that at least doctors and medicines be provided for their suffering children.
