QUETTA: Supreme Court expressing displeasure over the apathetic attitude of law enforcing agencies, allowed police, FC and secret agencies an additional period of two weeks for the recovery of missing persons, adding that if any one of them was accused, then he should be proceeded against according to law, Geo News reported.
A three member bench of the apex court comprising of Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and headed by the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the Balochistan law and order case at the Quetta Registry, the petition for which was filed by the Balochistan High Court Bar Association’s president three years ago.
During the hearing, FC IG assured the court that the CID would be provided FC personnel as required by them and positive results would be achieved very soon.
Thereafter, the Chief Justice in his remarks said, “What is there to hope when in three long years nothing has been done on this issue”.?
Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja said, “The issue left remains as it is in the next hearing.” And added it was all the more alarming the bodies of the missing persons were being found in Karachi.
Later the court, allowing police, FC and secret agencies two-week time, reiterated the court order that keeping anyone in illegal detention was violation of basic human rights. FC and security agencies should recover the missing persons, adding if anyone was accused, he should be proceeded against according to law.
