PM takes notice of protesters manhandling, orders immediate release

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday expressed displeasure over a crackdown by the Islamabad police on a group of demonstrators headed by Amina Masood Janjua protesting over missing persons issue and ordered their immediate release.

The Prime Minister said holding a peaceful demonstration within legal parameters was the democratic right of every Pakistani which cannot be taken away from them.

Expressing his disapproval over mishandling of the protestors by the police force, he said it was unacceptable.

The Prime Minister also ordered prompt and strict action against those responsible for today's incident, said a press release from the PM Office.
