No diplomatic immunity for arrested FBI agent: police

KARACHI: Police said the US citizen arrested at Karachi airport for carrying ammunition in his bag is a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent and he does not have diplomatic immunity which is why they registered a case against the accused.

The FBI agent was detained by airport police in Karachi at about 4PM on Monday when he tried to board a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight to Islamabad. He was in possession of 15 bullets and a magazine for a 9mm pistol, police officials said.

The police said the accused failed to provide proper reasons for carrying bullets. They said that he intentionally carried bullets with him.

The recovered bullets, laptop and mobile phone have been sent to laboratory for forensic test, the police added.
