ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would leave for Iran Sunday (today) on a two-day official visit at the invitation of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
The spokesperson of Foreign Office said Nawaz Sharif will hold bilateral meeting with President Rouhani and call on Ayatollah Ali Khamenai.
Bilateral talks will focus on strengthening economic ties.
Memoranda of understanding and agreements on cooperation in various fields would also be signed during the visit of the Prime Minister.
This would be the first leadership level visit since the formation of new governments in the two countries.
A high-ranking delegation comprising among others, Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Federal Ministers Ishaq Dar, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs, Tariq Fatemi and Chief Minister Balochistan Dr Abdul Maalik will accompany the Prime Minister.
