PESHAWAR: NWFP assembly has passed Rs214.18 Billion budget on Monday after the members of the assembly from opposition and treasury benches withdrew their cut motions on the demands of grants on the request of NWFP Chief minister Ameer Haider Hoti.
Earlier the Chief Minister Ameer Haider Hoti requested the members to withdraw their cut motions and allow the budget to pass so as to cut short the session due to the prevailing situation and sought cooperation from the opposition.
Addressing the house he said that the situation was not normal as used to be, therefore he was requesting the members to withdraw their cut motions on the demands of grants. He said that the opposition members had always extended their hand of cooperation on the flour of the house and he hoped this time too they would respond positively.
He said that the government wanted to cut short the session therefore withdrawal of cut motions would help them to do so. Responding to the CM request all the parliamentary leaders withdrew their cut motions and they all agreed to withdraw it.
After withdrawal of their cut motions the house house approved 58 demands of grants including Rs 197.94 billion of voted and 16.23 billion of charged demands of grants.Member Assembly Saqib Chamkani tabled some amendments in the Finance Bill 2009 and the house later on adopted the bill with all amendments proposed by the members of assembly.
The budget was passed by the assembly after a debate for two days and getting the demands of grants approved in a single day which is a record in the recent parliamentary history of the NWFP assembly.
The Chief Minister Ameer Haider Hoti thanked the members of the assembly for their cooperation. The speaker adjourned the session for Tuesday morning. |  |
