Terror attempt: Pak Navy broadens scope of investigation
KARACHI: A number of Navy officers deployed at Pak Navy Dockyard have been included into the scope of investigation following the shocking terror bid at the facility which was successfully foiled by the Navy commandoes.

According to sources, the above decision was made after the terrorists made a botched attempt to gain control of the Navy’s defence assets at the Dockyard.

The terrorists in collusion with some officials of the Navy had made an attempt to hijack one of its ships laced with missiles. On witnessing a timely action by the naval commandoes, the terrorists clad in Navy uniforms opened fire. As a result, many Navy personnel and staff sustained injuries.

Meanwhile, a dead body of the son of a senior Sindh police officer was also recovered from the sea near the Dockyard. The deceased was later identified as Naval officer Owais Jakhrani.

The mystery surrounding the death of Owais Jakhrani has not yet been solved, as police and Navy sources are reluctant to share any information on what led to the death of the Naval officer.

On the other hand, the defence analysts are of the view that had the terrorists been successful in their nefarious designs it could have plunged Pakistan into a serious internal and external crisis.

Credentials of more than 200 Naval personnel have so far been screened by Pakistan Navy as part of the ongoing scrutiny following the failed attempt of terrorism.
