Bilawal for an end to US drone strikes
ISLAMABAD: Demanding an immediate end to drone strikes in Pakistan’s northwestern tribal region near Afghan border, Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Tuesday that such attacks were in violation of international laws.

Speaking at a conference, the PPP supremo said that though several political leaders were against the country’s secret agencies, President Asif Ali Zardari put a stout defence of the Pakistan army in the aftermath of US raid in Abbottabad that killed al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden last year.

He said that history had proved his mother’s stance that the election in 1990 had been stolen, a reference to the Supreme Court ruling in the Asghar Khan case.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that despite differences with political parties, the PPP pursued the policy of reconciliation.

Bilawal called upon Imran Khan, Nawaz Sharif MMA and other political parties to unite in the fight against corruption and was willing to work with them for the future of Pakistan.

“I hope this is a different PML-N from the 1990s. I am certain Nawaz Sharif is genuinely an ally of supporting democracy in Pakistan. If we would just ignore the hawks of his party and show some leadership which I know he is capable of and build consensus with the PPP on the threat of terrorism we can eradicate this menace together. I even welcome Imran khan’s decision to finally partake in the next general elections. I am confident his inclusion will have a positive impact on the politics of Pakistan.”

He said that it had also been proven that the Taliban had killed his mother Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. The PPP chairman said that Malala Yousafzai was not an agent of any foreign country instead she was a patriot.
