QUETTA: Commander Southern Command Lt General Amir Riaz visited to slain Aaj News cameraman Shahzad’s family to express his condolence.
He offered prayers for the journalist who had lost his life in the line of duty while covering the Quetta Attack.
Speaking to his family the Commander Southern Command Amir Riaz said, “Shahzad is a martyr of Pakistan and Pakistan Army never forgets its martyrs.”
A little girl at the house touched a flag on the sleeve of his uniform and expressed her desire to have it. Riaz took off the badge from his uniform and gave it to the girl in a tender gesture which touched many hearts.
Shahzad, a cameraman at Aaj News, had reached the hospital to report the killing of Quetta Bar President Bilal Kasi who was gunned down at Mano Jan Road on Monday. The senior lawyer’s body was brought to the hospital by rescue workers.
An explosion which occurred near the emergency ward of the hospital killed Shahzad. He had been working with Aaj News for the last seven years.
The explosion had critically injured another cameraman, Mahmood Khan, who was working for Dawn News. Mahmood, 26, later succumbed to his wounds.
