RAWALPINDI: In a startling development, police in Rawalpindi told the banks to close down after several robbery incidents in the city.

City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Israr Abbasi said that the bank would only be allowed to open when the security measures would get completed.

On Tuesday, a private bank was robbed off Rs20 million located on Peshawar Road.

After the incident, IG Punjab Mushtaq Sukhera while expressing displeasure directed the RPO to conduct an inquiry.

The inquiry was still underway. However, the CPO directed the local banks to close, citing inadequate security measures.
