ISLAMABAD: A notification extending the stay of the Rangers in Sindh by 90 days was issued on Monday.

The decision by the Interior Ministry was taken on the recommendation of the Sindh government.

The powers have been extended from October 18 till January 16th.

Newly-elected Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, in a bid to end the persisting tense relations and row between the Sindh government and the Rangers, had in August signed the summaries for extending the stay of the Sindh Rangers in the province by one year. This also extended the special policing powers of the paramilitary force in Karachi for 90 days.

Sindh Rangers's stay and policing powers in Karachi under the Anti-Terrorism Act in aid of civil administration and the police had ended on 19 July, 2016.
