Two Pakistanis among Time’s most influential teens

Time magazine has released its annual list of most influential teens. This year’s list includes two Pakistanis-Malala Yousafzai and Sumail Hassan.

17-year-old Sumail Hassan who is originally from Karachi but moved to the US in 2014, is a competitive video gamer. He is the youngest person to earn $1 million playing video games competitively.  The teen is known for playing Dota 2, in which he is considered by experts as a Michael Jordan like figure. According to Time Magazine, Sumail recently purchased a house for his family using some of his $2.3 million earnings.

Pakistani Nobel Peace Prize recipient Malala Yousafzai is also included in the list of the 30 most influential teens. Malala became the youngest Nobel laureate ever at the age of 17.

Malala who is 19 now is a leading figure for girl’s education and women empowerment.  Originally from Swat, Malala has been residing in the UK where she received treatment after being attacked by the Taliban in 2012.

Other teens on the list include Sasha and Malia Obama, US Olympians Laurie Hernandez and Katie Ledecky. Teen celebrities on the list include actor Jaden Smith and Maisie Williams from Game of Thrones.
