LONDON: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif asserted on Friday that the country`s economy would grow by 5.5% in 2017.

Speaking to this scribe here after reaching from Davos, where he attended the World Economic Forum, the PM said that: “by the grace of Allah Pakistan is moving forward with a rapid pace. This year our GDP will grow by 5.5% as today Pakistan has started receiving foreign and local investments”.

He informed that Pakistan will be getting $55billion by China Pakistan Economic Corridor project.

“Pakistan has curtailed power crisis, load-shedding is reduced significantly and work on power projects is going on with pace,” said PM. He said that the whole world is talking about Pakistan’s economic progress and all indicators suggest that it is on course to achieve great progress.

When asked if he thinks that his government has been subjected to conspiracies one after another in the last four years, the premier replied that everyone must unite forces to work for the development of Pakistan.

“All efforts must be for the development of Pakistan. There should be no pulling from behind or dragging each other down. No politician should do that, including media,” he added, “some people tried their best to hatch conspiracies against his government but failed because it is not now clear as crystal that Pakistan is now moving forward.”

PM Nawaz said that he held a number of bilateral meetings in Davos where Pakistan’s progress came under discussion at all forums.  He said that it was heartening to note that Pakistan was being noticed in positive terms throughout the WEF sessions.

Panama Leaks

PM Nawaz said that he will comment on the Panama Leaks proceedings in the Supreme Court as it is a sub judice matter. However, the PM hoped that the “decision will be out in near future and Inshallah it will be good for the country”.

He added that the conspirators are destined to fail in their objectives no matter what their plans and machinations are as failure is their destiny.

Assassination attempt On PMLN (UK) President

PM strongly condemned assassination attempt on PMLN-UK President Zubair Gull and said that this attack should be condemned in the strongest possible terms.

He said that Zubair Gull is a patriotic Pakistani who has a long history of serving the country and its democratic cause.

“Zubair Gull is sincere to Pakistan. He is a pillar of our party. He is our sincere colleague and attack on him is intolerable. He has served democracy and Pakistan. I will sit down with him and discuss this matter further with him.”

The PM said that whoever involved in the attack on Zubair Gull is not a Pakistani and can’t be from amongst us.

The premier will stay in London for next two days and will then return to Pakistan. He is accompanied by advisors, Fawad Hasan Fawad and Tariq Fatemi.
