Suicide attack in Mohmand Agency kills five

MOHMAND AGENCY: At least five people, including three security forces personnel were martyred, while many others were injured when a suicide bomber blew himself at the main gate of Mohmand Agency headquarters, Ghallanai, Wednesday morning. 

According to Inter Services Public Relations, two suicide bombers were on a motorbike – one blew himself up while the other was killed by firing of security forces. 

A school teacher and a passerby where also killed in the suicide attack.

The main gate of the headquarters, as well as shops in the area, have been closed.

Sometime later, another suicide attacker struck in Mosal Kor area of the Mohmand Agency.

The attacker detonated the explosive device attached to him when security force personnel tried to apprehend him. The suicide attacker was trying to enter the office of the political agent.

A search operation is currently underway in the affected area.  

In November 2016, two FC personnel were martyred while four terrorists were killed when a suicide attack was foiled at Ghallanai camp, ISPR had confirmed. 

Before that, in September 2016, at least 36 people were killed when an explosion took place at a mosque in Anbar tehsil of the agency.

Mohmand, one of the agencies of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, has been a hotbed of violence during the war on terror, despite a military operation in 2009.
