LAHORE: Students belonging to areas outside Punjab were allowed to return to their hostels at The National College of Arts (NCA) in Lahore Saturday.

Students who are residents of Lahore and surrounding cities will be able to return to the hostel premises on Monday.

Additional police officers were posted at the institute to ensure the security situation was under control after students were ordered to vacate the institute’s three hostels on Friday.

The police department directed NCA’s administration to improve the campus’ security in one week’s time.

Geo News learned that the police had given a notice to improve security to the hostel administration a week ago. The hostels were finally vacated on Friday upon non-compliance of orders by administration staff.

On the other hand, DIG Operations Lahore Haider Ashraf denied that the police asked NCA administration to get the hostels vacated.

"We have not asked administration of any educational institution to get its hostels vacated," Ashraf said on Friday, adding that police were providing foolproof security to all institutes.
