LAHORE: At least 10 suspects were rounded up in an overnight combing operation in Lahore, sources said, besides two fraudsters involved in financial scams.
Rangers and police conducted a joint combing operation in Lahore's Yakki Gate area late last night, police sources said.
During the operation, five suspects found in possession of illegal arms were arrested, while five others were taken into custody over violation of Temporary Residents Act, which requires owner of a house or other property to provide complete details of any tenants.
Meanwhile, the Federal Investigation Agency arrested a man, Syed Fakhar Imam Rizvi, on a complaint by a citizen, Javed Khan. The arrested man is accused of defrauding the citizen of Rs12.5 million, by promising him Canadian visa.
On the other hand, officials of the National Accountability Bureau also nabbed central character of multimillion-rupees Hali Motors scandal. The suspect, Shafiq Hali, with the help of his partner Naeem Irfan and cashier Muhammad Azam, had swindled millions from citizens in the name of providing them vehicles.
His two accomplices, Irfan and Azam, have already been arrested and remain under custody of law enforcers.
