Six-year-old boy killed in traffic accident

KARACHI: A six-year-old boy died in a traffic accident late Thursday night when a dumper truck hit him near the Korangi Crossing area of the city, rescue officials said.

On the other hand, a body was recovered from Surjani Town’s Khuda Ki Basti area, rescue officials informed. They identified the body — said to be several days old — as that of 55-year-old Saeed Ahmed.

Police operations

One suspect was arrested during a search operation carried out in Karachi’s Pirabad area, police officials said, adding that weapons were recovered from the arrested suspects who are said to have been involved in numerous burglaries. 

Lahore raids

Four suspects were taken into custody during a search operation in Lahore’s Shafiqabad neighbourhood, police said.

The officials explained that two of the suspects are accused of violating the Temporary Residents Act wherein the relevant police station has to be informed of temporary residents living in rented spaces. 

Weapons were recovered from one of the suspects, while drugs were seized from another, police added.

During the entire operation, 200 houses were searched, the officials stated further.

Police, elite forces, and agencies collaboratively carried out a search operation in Lodhran, which led to the arrest of three suspects. Two motorcycles were also confiscated. 

During the operation, more than 34 houses were searched and biometric identification of 29 people was carried out, police added.
