NAB rebuts allegations chairman was offered diplomat job in France

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday rebutted “media reports” that its chairman was offered a diplomatic position in France in exchange for stalling investigation against the Sharifs.

The bureau in a statement said that there is no truth to these allegations.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Naeem-ul-Haque earlier today talking to media had claimed that the NAB chairman had been offered the position by Fawad Hassan Fawad, secretary to the prime minister, in exchange for employing delaying tactics in probe against the Sharifs by NAB.

“I had said this 15 days back, and it has not been rebutted still, that Fawad is still colluding with Nawaz. Fawad phoned NAB chairman and asked him to delay probe in exchange of a job as French ambassador,” he said.

This is why faulty references riddled with minute issues are being sent by NAB, the PTI leader alleged.

NAB had filed three references against the Sharif family and one against Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in the court in light of the Supreme Court's directives in the Panama Papers verdict of July 28.

Moreover, on Wednesday, NAB resubmitted the reference in the accountability court after the court registrar had raised objections over technical errors present in the reference.

The remaining three references are being fixed by NAB and will be resubmitted to the court soon, according to sources.
