Qalandars' Rising Stars in Australia for quadrangular tournament

KARACHI: With an aim to show their talent to the world, Lahore Qalandars’ Rising Stars squad have reached Australia to participate in a quadrangular tournament.

The squad, under guidance of Lahore Qalandars Cricket Operations Director Aqib Javed, will play against academy teams of Sydney Sixers, Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Thunders.

“We are very confidence of displaying best of our abilities to the world, last year we played the final of the tournament and this time we are determined to win it,” Aqib told Geo.tv before he left for Australia.

The team was announced after open trials at eight different cities of Pakistan and a cricket tournament in which shortlisted players participated to represent respective regions.

Lahore Qalandars’ Rising Stars squad will open their campaign with match against Hobart Hurricane on Wednesday. They will face Sydney Sixers on Thursday and Sydney Thunders on next October 31.

Players picked from open trials and Rising Stars tournament to form Lahore Qalandars’ Rising Stars team include Zeeshan Malik, Nauman Anwar, Saif Badar, Sharoon Siraj, Sikander Khan, M Naveed, Saif-ur-Rehman, Rohail Nazir, Ghulam Rabbani, Usman Qadir, Kamran Ghulam, Haris Rauf, Salman Irshad, M Irfan Jr, Mamoon Riaz and M Bilawal.
