Sacrifices of security forces will not go in vain, says PM Abbasi in Quetta

QUETTA: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said on Tuesday that the sacrifices of the security forces in the war on terror will not go in vain. 

Chairing a meeting on law and order in Quetta, where he arrived earlier on a daylong visit, Abbasi said that the centre is ready to assist the province in any way it requires in the fight against terrorism.

The meeting was attended by senior civil and military officials, including the chief minister, governor, Southern Command Commander Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa, Federal Minister States and Frontier Regions Lt Gen (retd) Abdul Qadir, National Security Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Nasser Janjua, IG FC, home minister, chief secretary and the police chief.

The meeting began by offering prayers for the martyrs of the recent terrorist incident in Quetta.

The home secretary presented a detailed briefing on the law and order situation.

During the meeting, Zehri said the law and order situation has improved in the province, adding that the back of the terrorists has been broken.

The meeting also discussed in detail the security measures for Shia pilgrims.

Earlier, upon reaching Quetta, the premier met Governor Muhammad Achakzai and Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri as well as lawmakers from the province.

He was briefed on development projects in the province.

Schools on the city's Zarghoon Road have been closed due to the VIP movement in the area.
