ISLAMABAD: The statements record relating to the accusations against former federal minister Shagufta Jumani taking commission has been submitted in the Supreme Court hearing Hajj scandal case here, Geo News reported.
During the hearing Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that the court order pertaining to the contract officers if remain non-complied, then the decision would be announced after three days.
Chief Justice, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heading the four-member bench of the Supreme Court was hearing Hajj scandal case.
FIA told the court that Rao Shakeel as D.G Hajj had tempered the record. The recorded statements of three persons, which included former ambassador Ali Sher Umarzai, employee of Hajj Directorate Abid Munir and middle man Naseer, were also submitted in the court.
According to Naseer former federal minister, Shagufta Jumani was to receive 25 Riyal per pilgrim in the contract for sending 10,000 pilgrims. Shagufta Jumani meeting an Arab Ibrahim Baghdadi complained that she didn’t get the agreed amount of one lac Riyal.
When queried about the pilgrims at official cost, FIA replied that the letter for providing them the lodging facility was written at the behest of Interior Minister, Rahman Malik’s PS Raja Javed.
Justice Javed Iqbal said that recoveries be made from all those who performed Hajj at official cost, so that the practice of official pilgrimage be done away.
As regards contract officers’ case, Chief Justice on an occasion said that it seems the government was not taking any interest in it.
