Despite the Pakistan Cricket Board being under the burden of increasing number of employees, the new Chairman Ehsan Mani has decided to hire Director Media and Managing Director on exorbitant salaries of one million and two million rupees, respectively.

According to the former chairman Najam Sethi, the board has decided to hire a former PCB employee to fill the post of Director Media. He, however, claims that the new salary package for this post will breach the board rules.

Reports are rife that the UK-based Waseem Khan is also in a run for becoming PCB Managing Director. Waseem Gulrez Khan has played for Warwickshire, Durbeyshire and Sussex as a batsman. He has also served as Chief Executive of Leicestershire.

The left-handed batsman played 58 first class matches from 1992 to 2002.

After assuming the charge, Chairman Ehsan Mani in his first press conference had said that the board would look to hire professionals on current market rate. However, Najam Sethi claims that the chairman has already decided on the ones to be hired on the two crucial posts, adding that the advertisement in this regard was just ‘a drama’.

On the other hand, the board has made necessary preparations to make constitutional amendments for the hiring of a MD.
