Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone will not be seen gracing the screen with her real-life husband Ranveer Singh anytime soon.
Reports of Deepika sharing the screen with Ranveer in 83 were ripe in the media, however, a source from the film's production team said the news is not true, Deccan Chronicle reported.
“83 is a boys’ films. The focus is on Kapil Dev and his team bringing home the World Cup. Ranveer plays Kapil Dev. While Deepika playing his wife Romi sounds tempting, it’s just not true. Kapil Dev’s wife’s role will be very limited in this film and Deepika is a huge brand. She wouldn’t do any film just because her husband is in it,” the source said.
Directed by Kabir Khan, 83 follows how, under newly-appointed captain Dev, the Indian cricket team defeated West Indies in the final of the World Cup in 1983. It tracks the coming-of-age of not just a cricketing team, but of a young nation in the eyes of the world.
The newlyweds have previously worked together in three Sanjay Bhansali films Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat.
