DUBAI: The newly appointed captain of Islamabad United Mohammad Sami has expressed hope that Islamabad United will be one of the teams in the final of PSL 2019.

Talking to geo.tv in Dubai, Sami said that captaining Islamabad United in PSL will be a challenge and he’s looking forward to it.

“Captaining the team is a challenge. Islamabad United has a very good track record in PSL with two titles in three editions so it is a challenge to keep that record.” Sami said.

“I will try my best to keep Islamabad doing what it is known for,” he added.

Sami said that he has captained teams in past and that experience will surely help him while captaining the PSL side.

“I have captained domestic sides and have experience of captaining teams in shorter format, that experience is surely going to help me in PSL,” the fast bowler said.

Talking about his own goals during Pakistan Cricket’s biggest event, Sami said that he aims to be among the best bowler and to lead team from the front by giving his best in the field.

“My performance as a bowler was good in last three editions of PSL, I will try to take my performance graph further up in this season. Will try to give my best as a bowler to lead team from the front,” he stated.

“I aim to be among best bowlers of the league,” he expressed.

Sami acknowledged Misbah’s services to the team of which he also has been part for last three years but added that he’s different from Misbah and will lead the team in his style.

“Misbah’s services for Islamabad United and Pakistan Cricket are remarkable and not everyone can be Misbah. I’m different from him and will lead the team according to my nature. Our coaching staff is same so, team strategy is likely to remain the same,” Sami said.

The fast bowler further said that he’s confident that Islamabad will be playing the final this season as well.

“I’m confident that Islamabad will be one of the finalist teams in PSL. We have very balanced squad and players know their roles well,” he concluded.
