World Cup 2019: Pakistan-India match likely to be affected by rain

The much-anticipated World Cup group stage clash between cricketing rivals Pakistan and India on Sunday is also likely to be affected by rain.

Downpour continued in Manchester on Thursday, with weather forecasts predicting "light rain showers and a gentle breeze" on Sunday, when Pakistan take on India at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground.

"The weekend and start of next week will bring mixed weather. There will be some sunny spells each day, but there will also be the chance of showers too," the BBC Weather website forecasted.

The UK MetOffice said Manchester would witness sunny intervals on Sunday "changing to light showers by late morning".

Weather.com predicted cloudy weather with periods of light rain in the morning, with steady light rain in the evening and showers continuing till late at night.

Pakistan lost their last World Cup match on Wednesday by 41 runs against champions Australia at Taunton.

The team has three points on the table, winning only the one match against favourites England out of their four World Cup group matches so far. They were awarded one point when their match with Sri Lanka was abandoned due to rain.

India, meanwhile, have won both of their matches in the tournament so far, while they face-off against New Zealand today at Nottingham.

Pakistan won their last ODI against India two years ago during the ICC Champions Trophy. India has won four out of the last five times that two teams have played against each other.
