KARACHI: Police on Monday caught the alleged rapist who reportedly sexually assaulted a girl who was found unconscious a day prior at the city's Sea View.

The man — identified as Ali Raza (alias Ali Imran) — was arrested from Korangi, police said, but added that they were still searching for the survivor's friend who had accompanied her the day before.

Police added that DNA samples from the arrested suspect would be obtained after the survivor identified her rapist.

However, Kiran — the survivor's friend who had accompanied her and the predator when they were dining out prior to the alleged rape — was still in the wind, police noted, adding that they were carrying out raids to search for her.

As per the survivor, her friend, Kiran, and suspect Ali Raza had food together on Sunday, shortly after which she felt disoriented and sick. It was then that the alleged rapist sexually assaulted her.

Afterwards, when she was completely unconscious, Kiran and Ali had thrown her at Sea View and fled.

The survivor was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for immediate medical treatment and police had said they registered a first information report (FIR) in this regard. They also recorded her statement in accordance with Section 164 of Pakistan's Criminal Law at the Darakhshan police station.
