Karachi: Pedestrian bridge falls on main artery

KARACHI: A pedestrian bridge collapsed in the Machchar Colony area of the metropolis bringing traffic to a grinding halt, Geo News reported.

Resultantly, the heavy traffic that flows on Mauripur road was stopped in its tracks causing miles-long gridlock.

Authorities did arrive at the site, apparently with an aim to clear the road of the debris so that traffic could be put back on the move, but did nothing. According to eyewitnesses, people in the neighbourhood as well as the truckers helped themselves by removing the rubble so that the 18-wheelers could get going.

No casualties have been reported so far.
