Colombo: Afghanistan was shot out for a paltry 80 runs chasing a daunting 196 set by England.
The defeat brings this Afghan campaign to an end. The afghan batsmen never looked comfortable against the defending champions and eventually the inexperience showed as their wickets kept falling at regular intervals.
Gulbodin Naib was the only Afghan batsmen to reach double figure as he scored 44 of 42 balls with the help of 5 boundaries and 3 sixes.
English bowlers looked determined to retain their crown as they bowled attacking lines and looked to take wickets. JW Dernbach, SC Broad, SR Patel and GP Swan equally shared 8 wickets between them.
Earlier England had set Afghanistan 197 to win, LJ Wright remaining 1 short of his hundred.
