Faryal Makhdoom, the wife of British-Pakistani boxer Aamir Khan, was once again surrounded by controversy as she faced criticism over her choice of dress at the Red Sea Film Festival, "post Umrah".

The event recently took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with stars from the showbiz industry all over the world in attendance, and Makhdoom and her husband were one of them.

The celebrity wore a silver silk gown, slit on the right side down the leg, with a piece of the same fabric stitched in a way that it served as a hood or head covering.

What apparently did not sit well with the netizens was Makhdoom's choice of dress soon after performing Umrah.

A day after posting about the pilgrimage, she posted pictures and a video from the film fest, and the comments section was flooded with criticism over the outfit.

However, Makhdoom told the people to "stop having any expectations" of her.

“Even though I don’t need to explain myself to anyone I thought I’d clarify one thing, I’ve been to Umrah many times before but this particular visit was unplanned, I had been invited to the Red Sea film festival so I flew down to attend, whist I was there I couldn’t not visit Makkah which was 1hr away from me, so I went. My dress was pre-planned, but my Umrah trip wasn’t," the YouTuber said in a comment comprising a long paragraph.
