Netflix promises something big about Indian content in 2024

This year, Netflix is becoming more prominent with various topics to explore, swoon, and binge-watch for its audience, who are hooked to Indian content.

Starting the slate with a feature film, Wild Wild Punjab, as per the synopsis, it follows “a group of drunk boys” who “avenge a friend’s breakup by crashing his ex’s wedding and achieve closure.”

Other exciting titles include Vijay 69, a “quirky, slice-of-life film about a man who decides to compete in a triathlon” in its 70s, along with a heist drama Sikandar Ka Muqaddar, Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba and others.

“2023 was our most successful year, and it has been hugely rewarding to see our members and critics love stories across genres and emotions from India – and around the world,” the company’s top executive, Monika Shergill, said.

Apart from that, the 2024 slate included an adaptation of the novel Club You To Death titled Murder Mubarak.

In 2024, we’re taking this thrill to the next level,” the head honcho added. "The biggest names and freshest voices in Indian entertainment are bringing their most special films, series, and documentaries to Netflix, and we can’t wait for you to watch them.”

As far as TV shows are concerned, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, a riveting story on the infamous hijacking of IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein season 2, and The Great Indian Kapil Show, among other titles are in the offing.
