Waqar Chohan awarded Sitara e Imtiaz in public service field

Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman conferred Sitara e Imtiaz on Waqar Chohan in the filed of public service. 

Chohan introduced the concept of parallel financial investigations in cyber crimes, leading to money laundering investigations in line with Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recommendations.

In national campaign against money laundering and hawala under FATF guidelines, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) North Region, under his command, between January and August 2022, registered 70% of the total cases, making up 74% of the total seizures by the agency. 

Thus, Chohan significantly contributed to Pakistan's successful removal from the FATF grey list in October 2022.

In the national campaign of FIA for recovery of evacuee trust board (ETBP) property from illegal possessors, FIA recovered more than Rs25 billion worth of property. 

Out of this Rs15 billion worth was recovered by FIA North Region under command of Chohan.
